SLOPPY JOES

This Tasty Tuesdays introduces: Sloppy Joes – An All-American Classic
Saucy, savoury, a little sweet, & perfectly messy,
this American favourite has been a dinnertime staple for generations.
Piled high on a toasted bun and finished with your favourite toppings,
it’s quick, affordable, and guaranteed to hit the spot.
INGREDIENTS:
800g Tasty Ground Mince
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ cup Wellington’s tomato sauce
1 onion, chopped
1 small green bell pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
1 teaspoon ground paprika
½ cup water
Salt & pepper, to taste
METHOD:
Sauté the Veggies
Set your Instant Pot to Sauté mode. Heat the oil, then add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes, or until softened.
Brown the Beef
Add the ground beef and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
Add the Flavour
Stir in the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, paprika, tomato sauce, water, salt, and pepper. Mix well so the beef is coated in all that delicious flavour.
Pressure Cook
Close the lid, set the valve to Sealing, and select Pressure Cook – High for 5 minutes.
Release & Serve
When the time is up, do a Quick Pressure Release. Give everything a stir, then spoon the saucy mixture over toasted buns.
Serving Ideas
Add coleslaw for crunch
Top with pickles for tang
Melt on cheese for extra indulgence
Serve with a side of fries or a fresh salad
